(I'm not connected to this in any way, nor do I have any additional info on it, but it came to me via a list that I am on. Thought it might be of interest to anyone looking for networking opportunity - to practice your pitch...)

LaidOffCampNY
Have you recently been "displaced" or are you "between projects" or as some call it "liberated"? Well, maybe not YOU but how about your friends, family members, or ex-co-workers? Are they considering a new non-traditional career path, or possibly go freelance, become a entrepreneur, find a business partner, or simply need more work/ projects/a new job? If so, do them a favor and tweet away to spread the word and/or forward this email.

This April or May 2009 LaidOffCamp is coming to New York City. LaidOffCampNY is a gathering of unemployed, under-employed and non-traditionally employed people who want to share ideas, discuss issues and gather knowledge from industry specialists and most importantly, from each other.

LaidOffCampNY is a forward-looking event focused on community and collaboration. We're busy finding a space and a date for the event, we'll be announcing more details shortly.
