POSITION: Managing Director, Development Operations

Our client is a premier non-profit in the education space. Its mission is to enlist the nation's most promising future leaders in the movement to eliminate educational inequality. Embarking on a stage of significant growth, the organization is looking for a team of highly talented individuals to help shape both the future of the organization and the education landscape.
ABOUT THE POSITION:
Over the past few years, our client has tripled its fundraising from $40 million in 2005 to $114 million in 2008. The organization is seeking a Managing Director, Development Operations to help it become an enduring American institution by building a best-in-class fundraising operation. The Managing Director, Development Operations is responsible for designing and implementing systems to enable ambitious fundraising growth and increasing efficiency as the organization grows. This position provides an opportunity for an individual with superior problem solving, management and collaborative skills to lead a team of 10 and to provide significant leadership at a critical time in the oprganization's history.
This individual will report directly to the Vice President, Regional Development-Development Operations and work closely with the Chief Finance and Infrastructure Officer and Chief Operating Officer and their teams.
The Growth Strategy and Development team helps our client fulfill its potential as a
force for change by securing the placements and financial resources needed to fulfill our scale and impact goals.
Responsibilities:
Setting a long-term vision, goals and plan to increase operational efficiency and excellence and innovation in development efforts nationwide. Specific areas
include:
Increasing efficiency and accuracy of gifts and acknowledgement processes and partnering with the Finance and Infrastructure team to ensure alignment with audit requirements
Partnering with the development staff and Regional Operations team to increase
cash flow predictability and maintaining a high cash collection rate
Publishing a suite of management reports to facilitate fundraising growth and
efficiency organization-wide
Improving the functionality and usage of the donor database. Partnering with the Alumni Affairs and Technology teams to integrate constituent information into one
customer relationship management system
Collaborating with the development staff and the Finance and Infrastructure team to design and implement a system for tracking and reporting on restricted grants
Managing four direct reports and leading a 10-person team to achieve ambitious goals by distributing and balancing work and resources, tracking and reporting progress against team and individual goals, and developing team members’ skills to ensure exemplary performance and satisfaction
Contributing to the broader leadership of the Growth Strategy & Development team and driving cross-team collaboration as needed
CANDIDATE_REQUIREMENTS:
Skills:
Bachelors degree required
Minimum of five to seven years of work experience required
Prior management experience required; two to four years of management experience
preferred
Track record of exemplary problem-solving in a complex operational realm
Prior experience in managing high volume, data-intensive, customer-facing operations are preferred
Proven ability to design and manage efficient systems and quality controls
Excellent customer service and follow-through
Excels in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
Interest in making a material impact on the education sector
Technical Skills:
Raiser’s Edge or other donor database experience a plus, but not required
Experience working with finance staff and auditors a plus, but not required

Salary for this position is competitive and depends on prior experience. In addition, a
comprehensive benefits package is included.
